| POOL CARE ADVICE LEAFLET
In order to ‘recover’
an algae infested pool, please carry out the following
steps: -
1. Adjust pH level to 7.2. If the
pH figure is above 7.2, use BioGuard Lo ‘n’
Slo to lower the pH.
2. Check that the skimmer and pump
strainer basket are clean and free of debris.
3. Remove all floating leaves and
debris from the surface of the pool using a leaf net.
4. Brush walls and floor thoroughly
to ensure that all matter is put into suspension.
5. Set the filter and circulation
system onto re-circuit, i.e. Avoid the water passing
through the filter.
6. Keep the pump running.
7. Dose the pool with Liquid shock
chlorine or BioGuard Bio Shock Rapid at the rate of
900g per 45m3 (10,000 gallons) in the manner described
on the pack. Note: This is a larger dose than normally
recommended, especially for heavily infested pools.
Allow the pool water to circulate for one hour before
moving on to step 8.
8. Dose the pool with BioGuard Erase
at the rate of 450ml per 453 (10,000 gallons) in the
manner described on the pack.
Allow the pool water to circulate for one hour before
moving on to step 9.
9. Dose the pool with Granular Floc
or BioGuard Liquifloc at the rate of 450ml per 453 (10,000
gallons) in the manner described on the pack.
10. Keep the pump running for 1 hour,
then switch it off.
11. Allow debris to settle –
this could take several days – so ensure there
is enough chlorine in the pool to sustain it over this
period - then vacuum to waste.
12. Once debris has been removed,
return filtration to filter setting.
Tips
- In extreme cases, if the pool has
not cleared within 48 hours, repeat the above steps.
- Run filtration continuously for
24 hours until the pool water is clear.
Do not swim in the pool until the water is clear and
the chlorine level is below 5mg/1 (5 ppm).
- It may be necessary, after following
the above steps to use BioGuard Clear Tablets or Jolly
Gel in the pump strainer basket to remove the fine
particles from the water.
Follow steps 9 – 12.
