What options are available?
With new technology constantly embracing this sector of
the market place you are nowadays somewhat spoilt for
choice, but the most common at present are, dosing systems,
erosion feeders, electrolytic chlorinators, mineral purifiers,
ozonators and ultra violet systems. What
is a dosing system?
In basic terms a dosing system consists of probes which
monitor the condition of the water then send a message
to a management system which in turn activates valves
to dose the appropriate chemical from its dosing tank.
What is an erosion feeder?
Often referred to as a trichlorinator or a brominator,
it is a vessel in to which sanitiser tablets are placed
and the pools filtered water is then passed through the
chamber. As it passes through it erodes the sanitiser
and mixes it with the returning pool water.
What is an electrolytic salt chlorinator?
Used extensively on the continent, Australia , U.S.A.
and South Africa, an electrolytic chlorinator uses a small
concentration of salt (added to the pool water) to create
a sanitiser. An electrical charge is passed through an
in line cell, electrolysis takes place as the salt water
passes through it and the sanitiser is produced and mixed
with the returning pool water. Very much worthy of considersation
an electrolytic systen creates superb bather comfort and
water condition, however because of the corrosiveness
of salt it is always recommended you check compatability
of existing filter and heating equipment.
What is a mineral purifier?
As in centuries ago , when water was kept in copper and
silver jugs to help keep it pure, a mineral purifier uses
ion exchange to assist in the treatment of pool water.
Typically a chamber is plumbed in to the filter return
line and a mineral cartridge is placed inside. The minerals
are active for about six months before the cartridge needs
to be replaced. An ideal situation would be to use a mineral
purifier in conjunction with an electrolytic chlorinator.
What is an Ozonator?
Through a process of "corona discharge" which
takes place in the generator, ozone - a very very powerful
oxidiser - is created and via a venturi fed in to the
pool water. Ozone oxidises bather waste and other organic
material enabling you to reduce your sanitiser level and
thus create a much more comfortable bathing condition.
What is a U.V. system?
Ultra Violet radiation kills bacteria and again therefore
enables you to reduce your sanitiser levels and thus help
eliminate red eyes and skin irritation. |
