What temperature is
a steam room?
Up to 45°C max but 40°C
is about right.
How humid is the room?
A steam room is nearly 100% humid
unlike a sauna which reaches a humidity level of about
30%
Which is better for me –
sauna or steam?
Subject to the bather being fit and
healthy, (if in doubt consult a doctor), they are equally
as good. They both have the same effect. It tends to
come down to personal preference. Many women feel that
steam rooms are kinder on the skin on the basis it is
such a wet environment.
Where can a steam room be
placed?
Ideally, like a sauna, in an area
where the bather can sit down and relax afterwards.
And in a wet area, such as a dedicated leisure suite
or if in the home, a bathroom.
Does a steam room need to
be ventilated?
If a room is used for no more than
2 hours in a domestic situation, then no. For commercial
applications, yes. The air needs to be ducted out of
the building due to the moisture laden air. |
