If the pool is to be installed outside the curtilage of your property,
or is to be installed in front of your building line.

How many months am I able to swim?

Anything between April and October depending on weather but most fair-weather swimmers utilise the pool between May and September.

How much will it cost me to run the pool per season?

If you use the pool between May/Sept at an average temperature of 82 Degrees to include heating, electric and chemicals, you would be looking at £500 - £800 per season depending on size of pool.

Someone in the family is allergic to Chlorine – is there an alternative?

Yes, there are a number of alternatives in today’s market – Bromine, Ozone, Salt and Active Oxygen to mention a few.

Are we a member of SPATA (The Swimming Pool and Allied Trades Association)?

Yes, we are and have many awards to our name including Retailer of the Year, The Peter Geekie Award for Excellence and a number of Awards for pool installations.

ABOVE GROUND/SURFACE POOLS

Do I need planning permission for an above ground pool?

Not usually unless you have a listed building or live in a conservation area. They are considered to be moveable but it is always best to check with your local Council first if in any doubts as planning rules do vary from one County Council to another.

Can I sink the pool into the ground?

As the name would suggest, these are for above ground assembly. However, if you wish to sink one in the ground, we would recommend that you leave a void between the pool wall and the soil.

Can I deck up to them?

Most certainly and they look very attractive with decking up to them but you would be advised to decide this before purchasing as you would need to change the standard ladder to an in-pool ladder.

Can I heat an above ground pool?

Yes you can and there are various forms of heating available depending on the type of pool. We would be happy to advise you on this.

Do I have to take the pool down again for winter?

No – the pool would be winterised and we would be happy to advise on this or our Service Department would be able to undertake this for you. In the case of splasher type pools, we recommend that these are taken down and stowed away for the winter.

HOT TUBS

Do you have the Hot Tub indoors or outdoors?

In our opinion, you will enjoy your tub more by placing outdoors, but close to the house so that you will be able to access it easily. There really is nothing quite like being outdoors, enjoying your garden, star gazing with the wind chill on your face, whilst you’re immersed in a body of lovely warm massaging water.

What are the most important features of a tub?

Comfort, Energy Efficiency, Good Hydromassage…. these are the most important requirements …be careful as not all makes feature all three.

How can I tell whats a good quality tub and what’s not?

Sadly, it can be too easy to be caught out by “The Emperors New Clothes” as very often a tub which may be perceived to be of a high quality. In reality isn’t. Call us and request one of our information packs which will include a list of questions you really ought to be asking when viewing tubs in order to establish if the unit you are viewing is truly a quality driven value for money tub.

Do more jets in a tub make it better performing?

No!…. Often less jets actually mean better performance. An analogy would be to take the shower in your house. If the head of the shower is open such that 60 small holes (jets) are open, you get a gentle shower. Turn the showerhead such that only five or six holes (jets) are now open and you get an intense impulse massage. Therefore, it is fair to suggest less jets give better massage.

How much does a tub typically cost to run with regards power consumption?

A high-energy efficiency tub like the Beachcomber and those using full (not part) foam insulation will typically cost, in a domestic family situation, about £10 - £12 per month in electricity.

Is it easy to install a Hot Tub?

Nine times out of ten…Yes! Pay attention to access as typically you will need to have 40” clear access avoiding overhangs, gutters ect. Once in, you will need a suitable level base and in most cases, a 16amp electrical supply. Sometimes, a crane will be needed to lift the tub over the house – our experience has shown a typical cost for this service is around £400 subject to access etc.
